The challenge
Pitching one study to pension reporters in eight languages
DataPulse is a Berlin agency that builds original data studies and pitches them to journalists across Europe. In January 2026 it published the European Retirement Pension Gap, which compared what the average pensioner receives with what an older household spends in 30 countries.A study like this gets picked up when each country’s press hears its own number. Getting that right meant pitching in eight languages, to journalists in each country who were already writing about pensions.
The solution
Eight languages, eight media lists, all built in JournoFinder
DataPulse used JournoFinder’s live article search, which finds journalists through the articles they’ve recently written, and ran the same search in every country using the local word for pensions: Rente, pensión, retraite, pensione, emerytura, důchod and mirovina.
Every result put the article, the journalist behind it and a verified email side by side, so DataPulse could see exactly why each person belonged on the list.
An AI step then scored each article from 1 to 3 for relevance, and only the top two tiers got the pitch.
Every email went out in the journalist’s own language, with their own country’s pension and spending figures.
“JournoFinder changed how we build lists. We start from what a journalist actually wrote last month, not from a masthead. That is why a pension study could land in 31 countries.”
The results
370+ articles, with coverage still landing seven months after launch
More than 370 editorial articles covered the study, and 185 of them ran on sites rated DR 70 or higher in Ahrefs. Croatian press was writing about it nine days after launch, and t-online ran a piece in September 2026, seven months later.

Coverage also ran in WELT, FOCUS, Frankfurter Rundschau, CHIP, El Confidencial, Infobae, Deník, Czech Radio and Index.hr, and the study is now cited on Wikipedia.
Beyond the study
Taking JournoFinder into their AI workflow
With the JournoFinder MCP server, which lets you use JournoFinder directly inside AI tools, DataPulse moved its list building into its AI workflow in June 2026. Its agents now work inside Claude Code and follow the same four steps for every campaign.
- 1 Search JournoFinder The agents search JournoFinder for journalists covering the topic.
- 2 Read their recent articles They read each journalist's recent articles.
- 3 Write the reason They write a one-line reason the story fits each journalist.
- 4 Save the list in JournoFinder The result is saved as a JournoFinder media list, ready to pitch.
Why the agents work better with JournoFinder
No hunting for emails
A news article only gives an agent a byline. In JournoFinder, every article is already linked to the journalist who wrote it and their verified email, so the agents go straight from story to pitch-ready contact.
More of the right journalists
The agents search a database of journalists and their full article histories, which surfaces far more of the right people than an agent would find from web search results alone.
The result
of the 500 journalists DataPulse emailed on its latest campaign came from JournoFinder.
JournoFinder is now the first place DataPulse looks for journalists' emails on every campaign.
